XERF is a needle-free skin tightening treatment for loose skin on the face, jawline and neck – no injections, no surgery and no planned downtime.
It is now available at Dr Elif Clinic, 54 Harley Street. Every treatment starts with a doctor-led assessment of your skin and facial structure, so the plan is built around your face rather than a one-size-fits-all setting.

What is XERF?
XERF uses radiofrequency energy to gently warm the deeper layers of the skin. That warmth makes existing collagen tighten and encourages your skin to build new collagen over the following weeks – so the skin gradually becomes firmer and better defined.
The energy passes through the surface of the skin, so there are no needles, no cuts and no marks afterwards. XERF is not a laser and it is not microneedling. Results look natural: you, a little firmer and more refreshed, rather than a different face.
Is XERF right for me?
XERF may suit you if…
- your skin is starting to feel looser or less firm
- your jawline looks softer than it used to
- you have early neck laxity or a “double chin” area
- you want a lift without needles, injections or surgery
- you can’t take time off for recovery
Another option may be better if…
- you have advanced, heavy sagging – a surgical lift may give more change
- your main concern is texture, scarring or pigmentation
- you have lost volume rather than firmness
- you are pregnant, or have a pacemaker or metal implant in the area
Not sure? That is exactly what the consultation is for.
Treatment areas
The jawline and neck are the most popular areas: XERF helps sharpen the jaw contour, tighten the skin under the chin and smooth the neck – the changes people notice most in photos and in profile.

What to expect at your appointment
- Consultation. We look at your skin, facial structure, medical history and what you would like to change – and confirm XERF is the right choice.
- Your plan. Treatment areas, depth and energy levels are chosen for your face. No numbing cream is usually needed.
- The treatment. The handpiece glides over each area for around 45–60 minutes. You will feel waves of deep warmth; built-in cooling keeps the surface comfortable.
- Afterwards. You can go straight back to work or your day. Mild redness or warmth may last a few hours; tenderness or slight swelling is possible but temporary.
When will I see results?
Some people notice a little tightening straight away, but the real change is gradual. Most patients see results from 4–6 weeks, with the full effect building over 3–6 months as new collagen forms. Depending on your skin and goals, we usually recommend 1–3 sessions.
How does XERF work?
XERF combines two radiofrequency frequencies (6.78 MHz and 2 MHz) with three depth settings, so energy can be directed to the right layer for each area – from the dermis down to the SMAS layer, the same supporting structure addressed in a surgical facelift. Real-time feedback and built-in cooling keep the heating controlled and comfortable.
The controlled warmth does two things: it makes existing collagen fibres contract, and it switches on the skin’s repair cells to produce new collagen and elastin. That is why results keep improving for months after the session.
XERF, HIFU or RF microneedling?
XERF
Radiofrequency through the skin surface. No needles. Best for firmness and early-to-moderate laxity on the face and neck.
HIFU / Ultraformer MPT
Focused ultrasound to precise depths. Considered for selected lifting concerns.
RF microneedling
Radiofrequency delivered through fine needles. Better for texture, scarring and pores.
None of these is “best” for everyone – we recommend the one that fits your skin and goals, not the newest device.

Frequently asked questions
Does XERF hurt?
Most people describe it as deep, comfortable warmth with occasional hotter moments. Numbing cream is not usually needed and the built-in cooling keeps the skin surface comfortable.
Is there any downtime?
No planned downtime – you can return to work or your day immediately. Mild redness, warmth, tenderness or slight swelling can occur for a short time.
How many sessions will I need?
Usually 1 to 3, depending on your skin and how much change you want. We confirm the plan at your consultation.
How long do results last?
The new collagen is your own, so results are long-lasting, although skin continues to age naturally. Your doctor will advise whether and when a maintenance session makes sense for you.
Can XERF tighten the jawline or neck?
Yes. Jawline definition, the area under the chin and neck firmness are the most common reasons patients choose XERF.
Is XERF a laser? Does it use needles?
No and no. XERF uses radiofrequency energy delivered through the surface of the skin – there are no needles, no injections and no cuts.
Is XERF better than HIFU?
Neither is better for everyone. XERF uses radiofrequency and is often preferred for larger areas like the face and neck with a gradual, comfortable approach; HIFU uses focused ultrasound. Your consultation will tell you which suits you.
Is XERF a facelift alternative?
XERF is a non-surgical option for early to moderate laxity. It is not equivalent to a surgical facelift; if you have significant sagging we will tell you honestly what to expect.
How much does XERF cost?
£2,500 for the full face and £2,800 for the full face and neck, per session. A personalised plan and quote are provided at your consultation.
What does the research say about XERF?
A 2026 prospective multicentre study followed 39 participants who received two dual-frequency monopolar radiofrequency treatments and reported investigator-rated improvement at 30 and 90 days. A separate 2026 retrospective study of 16 women reported objective and patient-reported improvements after one treatment, while noting the need for larger controlled studies and longer follow-up. These early results are encouraging, but XERF-specific evidence is still relatively small and short-term, and individual outcomes vary.
