What can anti-wrinkle injections treat?
Expression lines form where the facial “mimic” muscles contract again and again. Frown lines can make you look angry or worried, while forehead lines and crow’s feet can make the face look tired or older than you feel. Relaxing the muscle behind each line softens that expression. How do anti-wrinkle injections work?
Anti-wrinkle injections contain a purified protein that temporarily reduces how strongly a muscle contracts. Tiny, precise amounts are placed into the specific muscles responsible for each line. Your expressions remain – you can still smile, frown and raise your eyebrows – but less forcefully, so the skin on top creases less and existing lines soften.
They work on dynamic lines: lines that appear with movement. Static lines – lines that are etched into the skin even when the face is completely at rest – do not respond to anti-wrinkle injections on their own. If you have static lines, your doctor will discuss whether skin-quality treatments such as polynucleotides or Profhilo, or a filler, would suit you as well.
What to expect on the day

How long do anti-wrinkle injections last?
Anti-wrinkle injections are a temporary treatment. The effect usually lasts between 2 and 4 months, depending on how strong the muscles are and how deep the lines are. Having treatments on a regular basis can help extend this period. When the effect wears off, the muscles simply return to how they worked before – your face does not look worse than it did before treatment.
Natural results, not a “frozen” face

Anti-wrinkle injections or fillers?
The two treatments do different jobs. Anti-wrinkle injections relax muscles, so they soften lines caused by movement. Fillers restore volume or reshape an area, so they are used for lines caused by volume loss – such as nasolabial folds – or to shape the lips and jawline. Many patients combine both, and your doctor will plan this with you at consultation.
