What is Tixel?
Tixel is an award-winning totally new way of treating the skin using thermo-mechanical ablative (TMA) technology. Tixel is a new skin tightening and contouring procedure designed to safely treat facial wrinkles without significant pain or downtime. It uses tiny heated cones that are pressed across the face and neck to stimulate collagen, tighten the skin and allow for deeper penetration of youth activating serums. A recent scientific study demonstrated Tixel provides excellent results with low pain, low downtime and quick patient recovery. Unlike other therapies which are currently available, Tixel is not laser, ultrasound or radiofrequency. Tixel treatment is truly tailored to your needs based on your skin concerns and how much downtime you are able to have.

How does Tixel work?
There are three main settings: ablative, non-ablative and ‘open channel.’ The most intensive treatment is ablative, then non-ablative, and the open channel is the mildest. It works in a similar way to laser resurfacing by destroying damaged skin cells, encouraging new cell turnover and harnessing the skin’s natural healing process.
Are there any side effects of Tixel?
Tixel is FDA approved, completely safe and only uses natural heat. It has built-in safety features to maintain a safe contact time on the skin to avoid the risks. After the treatment, you may experience some redness which can last a few days and some micro-crusting (very small scabbing) which can last for up to a week which can easily be covered up with makeup. You will also need to avoid active tanning for 3 weeks before and after the treatment and use a high SPF sun protection following the treatment.
Which treatment is better Tixel or fractional CO2 Laser?
The first is that Tixel is much less charring (“carbonisation”) than CO2 laser. This means the body does not need to take time to clear away charred tissue.
The second is because of the shape of the Tixel probes. These are pyramidal and they leave a triangular or V-shaped effect. The laser is a solid beam and leaves a U shaped effect. The time it takes for the body to recover, i.e. ‘to fill in the V is much shorter than it is ‘to fill in the U’.
Does Tixel hurt?
Tixel is a painless treatment. Local anaesthetic cream is applied to cleansed skin before the treatment. After disinfection, the bloodless Tixel treatment will begin and take 15-25 minutes. Most patients feel some heat and discomfort, like a sunburn.
